The year was 2002. Three friends—Chris Boyd, Jordan Birch and Scott Lindsay—threw the cheesiest, most festive party imaginable. Outrageously ugly Christmas sweaters were at the heart of the celebration, plus carolling, tree decorating, eggnog chugging, live music and of course—milk and cookies. The first Ugly Christmas Sweater Party was all the magic of the holidays wrapped into one night.

Each year for nearly two decades, the Ugly Christmas Sweater parties picked up momentum, and Chris and Jordan were able to turn their jovial gatherings into fundraising events. They built a team of volunteers, and with the help of the Ugly Christmas Sweater community, they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charities, including Children’s Wish Foundation and Make-A-Wish® Canada.

The Original Ugly Christmas Sweater parties were a reason for friends and family to connect and give back. This story is an evolution of the Ugly Christmas Sweater ethos—each copy of the Ugly Christmas Sweater Rebellion gives a meal to a child in need. through the local food bank.
